Tonkeeper Pro now supports USDT on the TRON network (TRC20) without requiring TRX for transaction fees. This is enabled by Tonkeeper Battery, which covers fees automatically so you can send and receive USDT-TRC20 even if your TRX balance is zero.
USDT on TRON (TRC20) is one of the most widely used stablecoin formats globally, particularly for cross-border payments and transfers between exchanges. The standard TRON network requires TRX to pay for "energy" and "bandwidth" — its equivalent of gas fees. This means that to send USDT-TRC20, you traditionally need to hold a separate asset (TRX) just to cover fees.
This is a friction point that affects real users: if you receive USDT-TRC20 from an exchange or another person and your TRX balance is zero, you're stuck. You'd have to buy TRX first before you can move your USDT. Tonkeeper Pro's gasless implementation removes this requirement entirely.
Tonkeeper Battery is a prepaid balance held within Tonkeeper that covers transaction fees on your behalf. It's denominated in "charges" — abstract units that map to fee amounts across different networks. When you make a transaction, Battery deducts the appropriate charges and pays the actual network fee from its own reserves, so you don't have to.
Battery can be loaded in several ways:
Once charged, Battery works across supported transaction types. For USDT TRC20, it covers the TRON network energy and bandwidth costs so you can send without TRX.
For a deep technical explanation of how Battery works under the hood — including the relay architecture, W5 wallet contracts, and the difference between Battery and Gasless — see How Tonkeeper Brings Gasless Transactions to TON.
USDT exists on multiple blockchain networks simultaneously. The two most common are:
Tonkeeper Pro supports both. With Battery, neither requires holding the respective native gas token. You can manage USDT across both networks from the same interface without worrying about which network token you need for fees.
Important: USDT TRC20 and USDT on TON are different tokens on different blockchains. They represent the same value (1 USDT = $1), but they cannot be sent to each other's addresses directly. Sending TRC20 USDT to a TON address — or vice versa — will result in permanent loss of funds. Always verify the network when sending.
Tonkeeper Pro is the advanced version of Tonkeeper, available on all major platforms: iPhone, iPad, Android, Web, Linux, and Desktop. It's designed for users who manage significant holdings or need features beyond standard wallet functionality:
The gasless USDT TRC20 feature is available to all Tonkeeper Pro subscribers. A 3-month free trial is available via the App Store.
