What is a seed phrase?
The seed phrase, also known as the secret key or recovery phrase, is a sequence of 24 words generated when you create a Tonkeeper wallet. It is the cryptographic master key to your wallet — anyone who has it can access your funds on any device. Record it carefully in the exact order it was generated and store it in a secure physical location.
📌 Never share your seed phrase with anyone — not with Tonkeeper support, not with anyone claiming to help you. Tonkeeper will never ask for your seed phrase.
How to restore the seed phrase?
If you did not save the seed phrase when you created the wallet, or lost it later, it cannot be recovered. The 24 words are known only to you — Tonkeeper does not store them and has no access to your wallet.
No phone number, email address, or support ticket can restore access to a wallet whose seed phrase is lost. This is a fundamental property of non-custodial wallets: you have complete control, which means complete responsibility for the backup.
Can the seed phrase be changed?
No. A seed phrase cannot be changed after it is generated. If your seed phrase has been compromised — shared with someone or accidentally exposed — create a new wallet immediately with a new seed phrase, and transfer your remaining funds to the new wallet as quickly as possible.
Why is a word repeated in my seed phrase?
This is normal and not an error. Seed phrases are generated randomly from a fixed wordlist (BIP-39 standard), so the same word may appear more than once. Repetition does not affect security or wallet validity.
Where should I store my seed phrase?
Write it on paper (or engrave it on metal for long-term storage) and keep multiple copies in separate secure physical locations — such as a home safe and a safety deposit box. Never store it digitally: not in a screenshot, not in cloud notes, not in email, not in any app connected to the internet.
