What if I transfer Toncoin to the NFT address?

If you accidentally sent TON to an NFT contract address, the coins are not permanently lost — they are stored inside the NFT contract itself. TON's smart contract architecture allows NFT contracts to hold TON as part of their on-chain storage, which is why coins sent to an NFT address are attached to that NFT rather than disappearing.

How to recover your TON

To get your coins back, send the NFT to yourself:

Go to the Collectibles tab in Tonkeeper.
Find the NFT whose address received the coins and tap it.
Tap Transfer.
Enter your own wallet address as the recipient.
Confirm the transaction.

When the NFT is transferred back to your own wallet, the TON coins stored inside the NFT contract are refunded to your Tonkeeper wallet as part of the transfer process.

Why does this happen?

On TON, every NFT is a separate smart contract with its own address. When you paste an NFT's address instead of a regular wallet address, the TON goes to the NFT contract rather than to a wallet. This is a common mistake when copying addresses — NFT contract addresses look identical to wallet addresses in format.
